  • Software lead and supervising the development and operations of tDAR, the Digital Archaeological Record.
  • Designed and developed a digital repository specifically for the archiving of archaeological data.

Wrote documentation standards and implemented processes necessary to coordinate the 10 campuses of the University of California transition from a pilot project into production. * Managed and turned-around late co-development project for custom software by re-engineering the process around rigorous testing criteria and shared definitions. * Implemented service and co-development agreements to enhance structure and process with vendors. ** Performed large-scale systems and data analysis to identify and remove organizational and system bottlenecks.
  • Lead, CDL HathiTrust Bibliographic Metadata Management Project ** Researched and prepared proposal to develop a Bibliographic Metadata Repository for the HathiTrust, replacing their existing Aleph database (project later became Zephyr and has since moved into production).

Nasa Images, Consultant.

Oct 2007-August 2008

A Joint project between NASA, the Internet Archive, and Luna Imaging. Served as the technical lead and main developer for the project. This included:

  • Technical Project Management, meeting deadlines on-time or early.
  • Developing software to crawl, harvest, and extract metadata and images from over 20 NASA websites to produce a unified database of images and multimedia hosted by the Internet Archive and using Luna Imaging’s Insight and LUNA software.
  • Developed tools to extract structured metadata from unstructured descriptions to assist in browsing and searching 200,000+ records.

Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore College Libraries, Director of Tri-College Library Information Systems.

  • Led strategic technology planning and provided strategic vision for the Tri-College Libraries.
  • Led Tri-College Web Services, Technology, and Application Review Committees including a review of the Integrated Library System, Meta-search, Electronic Resources Management Systems.
  • Developed simple tools to enable non-technical staff to create complex course, subject, and outreach guides.
  • Supported, implemented, and enhanced existing library software including SFX, III Millennium, Content DM, Embark, and DSpace to support local needs.

Luna Imaging, Manager of Product Strategy and Client Relations.

  • Acted as primary liaison between sales, marketing, and product development departments.
  • Managed the product packaging and release of Insight 3.5 - 5.0, transformed the software release into a repeatable process, reducing the overall time necessary to release the product, and reducing the overall number of calls to the help desk.
  • Scoped and prototyped the implementation processes for complex enterprise systems such as Luna’s Insight Environment. Processes included the import and management from simple flat data systems to complex XML and METS documents.
  • Managed the development and integration strategy for the Insight XML Gateway.
  • Wrote and supervised the documentation for Insight 5.0 outlining the addition of over 450 pages of client documentation supporting the implementation, installation, administration and support of the entire product suite.
  • Evaluated, prototyped, and integrated new toolkits and functions into Luna’s Insight Software enhancing data import, image processing, XML, log analysis and other tools.
  • Developed product wide technical marketing documentation and sales collateral for the Insight Enterprise Platform.

Archives & Museum Informatics, AMICO Library Production Manager / Webmaster.

September 2000-July 2002

  • Managed the production of the 2002 AMICO Library, a digital library including (100,000+) complex data records and (~1Tb of image data). Coordinated and performed metadata conversion, data normalization, reporting and general processing of records and image in multiple formats for over 30 member institutions including the Getty, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Cleveland Art Museum, Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, Frick, Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Smithsonian Museum of American Art.
  • Developed and maintained the content management systems for AMICO necessary for the management and updating of the AMICO Library.
  • Analyzed and implemented systems to enhance performance, function, appearance, and accessibility.
  • Managed and Maintained large relational databases with over 100,000 unique records.
  • Created tools for catalogers and visual resources specialists to manage, analyze, and normalize large quantities of data in the Library. This included tools that integrated and linked into the Getty Thesauri including ULAN, TGN, and AAT.
